What can I expect during the first session?Paperwork isn't anyone's favorite thing to do, however, it is an essential part of the therapist process. Reviewing the rules and expectations of both the therapist and the client are an essential part to building a healthy therapeutic relationship. During this time, we will go over some background information, answer any questions, and decide if we'd like to move forward on this journey together.
-
What kind of treatment approaches do you use?I use an intergrative approach because it allows us to utilize many different approaches to treatment from a variety of psychological theories. There is no one size fits all. Each client's needs are unique and should be treated as such.

If I am a client in another state, can we see one another virtually?Currently, we are able to see clients virtually in Texas, New Mexico, Delaware, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut, and Utah, Nevada, Vermont, North Dakota, and Oregon. We are currently working to get licensed in Washington, Louisiana, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, and Wyoming. These states will be updated on the website to reflect an active license in these states. We are working hard to make our services accessible to individuals across the United States. Stay tuned for updates!

Are there clients that you aren't able to treat?Due to our code of ethics, LPCs, LCSWs, Psychologist, and Psychiatrists are ethically responsible to practice within the scope of their competencies. During our initial session, we cab explore whether both parties feel comfortable moving forward to begin therapeutic treatment together.

Is therapy hard? What if I don't like talking? The therapist lets the client take that lead on what they would like to discuss in sessions. Nobody knows the client better than the client knows theirself. Therefore, it is important to meet the client where they feel its approrpriate. Remember, this is YOUR session. Keep in mind, therapy is hard work and takes a lot of dedication, reflection, and awareness. Clients that I work with have accomplished life changing habits and behaviors because of their willingness to work hard. Their successes are theirs. I am simply a trusted professional that they confide in and who helps them along the way.

How long does therapy take?Therapy is a combination of efforts made by the client within the session and the effectiveness in the therapists treatment approach. There is no magic number that we work toward getting to. It is simply a matter of the progress the client makes, the value they see in the sessions, and the changes that are reflected in the areas of their lives that they have the desire to change.
